CIVIC: photo The front fascia has been redesigned and the taillights now have clear turnsignal lenses with amber bulbs. A new DXVP model sedan only adds air conditioning and a CD player to the basemodel DX for an extra 750. The LXS adds alloy wheels “sporttrimmed” seats leatherwrapped steering wheel trunk spoiler and a chrome exhaustpipe tip for an extra 600 over the midline LX. New standard equipment for various Civic models includes a threespoke steering wheel all models electronic stability control EXL Hybrid USB audio jack EX EXL Si Hybrid fog lights Si and new alloy wheels EX EXL Si. The optional navigation process now includes Bluetooth phone connectivity and Hybrid models can be had with an optional 1200 leather package similar to the seven introduced on the 2008 Civic EXL.
CRV: two new paint colors have been added.
CRZ: Honda has confirmed that a sporty hybrid automobile is in the pipeline though no production timeline has been announced. The new automobile will be patterned after the CRZ concept shown at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show.
FCX CLARITY: Leasing for the hydrogenfuelcellpowered FCX Clarity started in summer 2008; actress Jamie Lee Curtis took delivery of the second customer automobile.
ELEMENT: The boxy crossover will get updated styling for 2009.
FIT: photo Just two years after introducing the Fit to the US market Honda has a new version for 2009. Though the elderly Fit’s trick rear seats and centermounted fuel tank remain the new Fit gets radically improved styling an updated engine and an obtainable GPSlinked navigation method.

INSIGHT 2010: Honda’s new small hybrid now has a name and it’s a familiar one. The new Insight is a fivepassenger fivedoor hatchback that looks in concept form at least like a cross between a Civic and a Toyota Prius. Honda will show the Insight Concept at the 2008 Paris Auto Show and the production automobile will go on sale in the spring of 2009. Honda says the Insight will be “the most affordable hybrid vehicle to date.” The rumor mill says pricing will start around 18500 about 5 grand below a 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid. Honda designs to sell around 200000 Insights half of those in North the united states.

PILOT: Honda’s large crossover gets a complete redesign for 2009 with Elementinspired exterior styling improved accommodations for 8 and a roomier interior.
S2000: No changes.
RIDGELINE: Honda’s pickup gets updated front rear and interior styling slightly more power for its 3.5 liter engine revised transmission gear ratios and a host of new features including optional Bluetooth phone compatibility and a backup camera.
iDTEC DIESEL: Honda’s new 2.2 liter tidy diesel engine which reportedly will meet 50state emissions requirements without the want for BLUETECstyle urea injection is expected to debut in a Honda vehicle for 2009 or 2010 though which automobile that will be remains a mystery. Best guess: the Accord or the CRV.

Improved Lincoln Mkz Ups The Entry Level Luxury Car Ante
Who knew that Lincoln could produce such a gorgeous looking entry level luxury car? Not I for I’ve been critical of Ford for many years for neglecting its erstwhile luxury brand. When the original Lincoln Zephyr was introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model and quickly renamed the MKZ one year later I thought that Ford management had lost it. After all renaming a model is taboo especially once the initial product launch has taken place.
Still Ford has been full of surprises these past few years upstaging rival General Motors with a broader mix of fuel efficient vehicles quality on par with Honda and Toyota and a new design direction for Lincoln. Almost suddenly Ford is remaking Lincoln’s image by releasing the hit MKS in 2008 and with the MKT crossover slated to bow next summer.
But we’re not talking about these two other models rather the focus is on the MKZ which has been redesigned for the 2010 model year and will be made available at LincolnMercury dealers in Spring 2009. This model is a vast improvement over the capable first generation MKZ representing an even more distinctive separation from the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan two other midsize models sharing the same platform as the MKZ.
For the 2010 model MKZ will get a much more plusher interior fresh design and include new features such as Blind Spot Information System BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert CTA designed to make navigating traffic and parking lots much safer and easier.
Speaking about BLIS this feature tracks vehicles in the blindspot zones on either side of the vehicle using two multiplebeam radar modules behind the rear fenders. Indicator lights in the outside rearview mirror on both sides of the vehicle warn the driver when a vehicle enters the defined blindspot zone extending from the side mirror to 10 feet behind the vehicle and 10 feet away from the vehicle.
CTA uses the BLIS radar sensors to alert the driver of approaching traffic while in reverse and backing out of a parking spot. The CTA tracks up to 65 feet on either side of the vehicle and warns the driver through both audible and visual alerts. Also the 2010 Lincoln MKZ offers SYNC NextGeneration VoiceActivated Navigation keyless entry Easy Fuel capless fuel filler THXbranded audio and adaptive headlamps.
Changes in the MKZ cabin are sure to delight Lincoln fans upgrades which include more chrome genuine aluminum and wood depending on the trim package an allnew instrument panel detailed touches including new welcome lighting chimes tuxedo stitching on luxury leather seats and Bridge of Weir leather the latter which is unembossed to allow the natural beauty and character of the grain to shine through.
All MKZ models are powered by a 3.5liter V6 Duratec engine that delivers 263 horsepower and 249 poundsfeet of torque. The 3.5liter uses a compact lightweight dualoverhead cam valvetrain for peak power and smooth operation at high RPMs. Paired with a sixspeed SelectShift automatic transmission which operates with either front or allwheel drive MKZ models performance is expected to improve while fuel mileage remains the same or increases slightly over the 2009 model.
Built at Ford’s Hermosillo Mexico plant the all new Lincoln MKZ will arrive at local dealers in early Spring 2009. Prices have yet to be set but expect that the new MKZ will be a strong competitor in the entry level luxury sedan segment.
